This is my Weekly Design Inspiration, this is a space where I share some design work that has either inspired me or caught my attention for its execution or concept. The things I feature on here can include (but not limited to) branding, web design, app design, illustration, typography, video games or anything that shows creativity in a unique way.
For the last couple of years I have seen designers and agencies taking part in 36 Days of Type, a challenge to create a design for each letter and number for 36 days straight. Much like Inktober it is quite an undertaking and is something I’ve wanted to do but always ended up forgetting when it came around. However, this year (although I forgot again) I decided to take part myself. It really stretches your creative muscles and makes you think about your full skill set and how it can be applied to letterforms. (You can see a handful of my attempts below).
So far I have tried out flat design, faux 3D, digital & traditional illustration, calligraphy and even animation. I’m trying my best to flex as many of my creative resources as possible and create as interesting outcomes as I can. I think it’s going well, all be it that we are only half way through and I have a few good ideas left to try. I’ll be sure to post a completed set of my outcomes come the end of the challenge.
Something I have really enjoyed throughout this challenge is seeing what other designers and agencies come up with. I’ve seen 3D renders, photography, illustration, animation and much more and it’s truly inspirational to see all these creatives show off their skills. In this post I want to highlight some designers and agencies that I’ve been following during this challenge and some of my favourite outcomes. Most of these are from Bristol based agencies that I follow, they include Orca, Halo and Taxi Studio.
